If you’re stuck on what to name your blog, don’t worry. You’re not the first person!
Choosing a name for your blog can be a long and frustrating process. The more time goes by, the more names are taken, web addresses are taken, and you really have to work to come up with one that is unique, short and catchy.
To make things easier for you, following is a process which I think could be quite helpful when you’re trying to think of a name.
1. What is your blog’s niche?
The first step is knowing exactly what type of blog you’re creating. Will it be fashion? Beauty? Travel? Having a clear focus on your niche will help you with the next step!
2. Write down a list of words
Next you need to create a list of every word you can think of that relates to you and your niche.
For example, if your niche is Fashion, you could write down words like “chic, dress, love, stylish, stylist, outfit, diary, look, design, sketch, show” etc. Use a website like Thesaurus.com, type your niche in and bring up the list of synonyms. It will show you lots of different words you can add to your list.
Then to have even more options, I suggest writing down words that describe you, such as “girl, happy, strong, energy, woman, desire, dream” etc.
3. Start mixing and matching
Now you need to start mixing and matching the words you’ve listed, to come up with a new list of created blog names that you can choose from. Unless you make up a brand new word, your blog’s name is going to need to be more than one word. If you need to, add a word in the middle, such as “the”, “and”, “with” or “to”.
You might come up with names like “Chic To Love”, “Desire The Dress”, “Style Sketch Diary”, etc.
4. Check if it’s available
Once you have your list of potential blog names, you need to check what’s available. You have to make sure the domain name (www.yourblogname.com) is free, as well as the username on social media. You can’t have the same blog name as someone else. Check each name you’ve created, and eliminate the ones that are already taken.
Choose from what you have left, and you have a name!
